A "STAR" was born last night when Milwaukee's own Anthony Pettis defeated Benson Henderson with the "Showtime Kick" to win the WEC Lightweight Championship! Check it out below and read the article on the NY Daily News. 
It was quite the ending to a great fight, but Anthony Pettis' roundhouse kick to Benson Henderson's head was more than just an ending to a fight - it marked the end of the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) as an organization.
Pettis, who won the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) battle by convincing the three-judge panel with the punishing fifth round-kick he calls "the Showtime Kick," concludes his MMA record to 13-1 as he prepares to transition from the WEC to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
According to Kevin Lole of Yahoo! Sports, Pettis practices the kick all the time.
"I've got 10 more of those kicks coming when I get to the UFC," Pettis said. "How do you like that to end the WEC?"
After nine years on its own, the WEC will merge with the UFC.
Pettis begins his UFC career when he takes on the winner of the Frankie Edgar-Gray Maynard fight, which will take place on New Year's Day at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The date of the Pettis debut fight is to be announced.
