New Gear: Panerai PAM 438 Tuttonero GMT

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

The impressive announcements trickling out of SIHH 2012 from Panerai continue with their announcement of an all-ceramic rendition of the classic Luminor 1950 case. A natural choice for a virtually scratch-proof and super-rugged timepiece, ceramic isn’t entirely foreign to higher luxury tiers of horology. However, most unique about the matte black Panerai PAM 438 Tuttonero GMT is the inclusion of a matching ceramic bracelet. The brushed, 44mm casing is water resistant to 300 meters, and houses Panerai’s superlative in-house P.9001/B 29-jewel automatic movement (where the ‘B’ delineates the matte black galvanized version of their P.9001 movement) with an impressive power reserve of 72 hours and all the standard timing features. Expected to retail for $11,450 USD, the Panerai PAM 438 Tuttonero GMT should be available this fall. (SOURCE)
