If mainstream America didn’t know who Anthony Pettis was before, they certainly do now after his appearance on MTV’s “World of Jenks.” Based on reports, 2 million viewers watched Andrew Jenks’ 30-minute documentary of the up-and-coming mixed martial arts star.
According to MMAJunkie.com, the number above represents Monday’s debut at 10PM ET/PT, as well as the same-night replay at 11PM ET/PT. Furthermore, their sources indicated that well over 2.3 million viewers in total have watched the half-hour episode courtesy of the MTV’s never ending reality replays.
“I grew up watching MTV and never thought I’d get the chance to be on one of their shows,” Pettis said of the unforgettable opportunity. “It was an absolute honor to work with Andrew and the staff at MTV. I hope fight fans tune in to see Jenks join me in the days leading up to my fight with Castillo.”
Not only did “Showtime” get his face plastered on television sets across the country, but the 23-year-old was also rewarded with a title fight against champion Ben Henderson just hours before the episode aired. The lightweights will do battle at WEC 53 in December.
“World of Jenks” airs Monday nights on MTV. In each episode, the 24-year-old Jenks focuses his lens and creates a bond with his subject to tell the story of one person’s life, bringing viewers closer to understanding someone else’s reality – everyone from a platinum-selling recording artist to a young adult with Autism.
