R.I.P. Michael Jackson

Friday, June 26, 2009

I was on a Jet Blue flight yesterday when the first report came in about Michael Jackson being rushed to the hospital. My immediate belief was that he would be ok, and the media was just blowing up yet another story out of proportion. This quickly changed as I was changing channels and the reports were getting worse and the report came that the entire family was asked to come to the hospital. I have been through this when my grandmother passed away at the age of 92 and our whole family surrounded here bed at the hospital. When the worst was finally confirmed at 6:15pm that the King Of Pop had really died, I got up from my seat and got my labtop; turned on the Serato and I proceeded to listen to all the hits that he had done from the age of 6 years. It made me sad that one of the greatest entertainers of all time would never get a chance to realize his dream of a comeback. I then thought to myself, "How could you make a comeback when you never really left?". I have been spinning for many years and the one thing that has never failed me in any party is Michael Jackson. He is timeless and chances are that there is nobody on this earth that at one time or another has not listened or danced to one of his records. It doesn't matter weather you are white, black, hispanic, asian, etc. Michael made the type of music that broke barriers and this is why he is the "KING OF POP". He opened up a lane for Justin, Beyonce, Britney, Christina, Miley, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, and yes even Madonna. Before Michael came along there wasn't a POP category in any awards show, before Michael came along videos were just videos not EVENTS, Before Michael came along most of the best music was coming from the U.K. He not only opened up a lane for himself but he also made one for others to be successful as well, so all you artists that are coming out now should pay homage and respect to Mr. Jackson because he is allowing all of you to live. I don't care about all the negativity that has been said about Michael at the end of the day he had to deal with that himself. All I know is that he made some of the best music this DJ has ever had the opportunity to play and his "Feel Good" music will continue to inspire us and keep us dancing.

P.S. The plan is not to live forever, but have the things you do in your life live forever..... Never Can Say Goodbye Mike, Rest In Peace....
