New Article: "The Naked Truth" Celebrities Go Nude For Allure

Thursday, April 19, 2012

Maria Menounos, Debra Messing, Leslie Bibb, and Taraji P. Henson stripped down for the shoot, draped in just a few strands of diamonds. Here's how they got their bodies—and minds—ready for the big reveal.

MARIA MENOUNOS
As a teen beauty-pageant contestant, Menounos received low swimsuit scores. "I was hippy and I didn't diet for contests. And it didn't bother me," she says. The 33-year-old Extra host has a healthy attitude about her body, but that doesn't mean she's comfortable getting naked. In fact, she's so hesitant to be bare it all that she's afraid of getting pregnant because of how much she'd have to expose. "I have some serious issues here," she admitted. "But I want to get over that." She looked to this photo shoot to cure to her shyness, and it may have worked: "This was definitely challenging," she said, "but I feel so much better having done it."

DEBRA MESSING
At 43, Messing's decision to pose nude came from a natural process of self-acceptance. "Once you have a child, once you pass 40, you have a different relationship with your body," she said. "I love my body in a way I never have before." And the parts she loves the most? "My shoulders, clavicle, and chest," she explains. "I started out in dance—there's something beautiful about a dancer's upper body. I love strapless dresses."

TARAJI P. HENSON
"My friends won't be surprised by this shoot," Henson said. "Whenever we go to the beach, I'm like, 'Is this a nude beach? Can I take my top off?'" With that kind of bravado, it's no wonder that the 41-year-old Person of Interest actress isn't afraid to parade around naked—even at her New York City home, with zero curtains on the floor-to-ceiling windows. "I know some idiot has a telescope, so I always wave," she said. "He's going to be pissed when I move."

LESLIE BIBB
Following an indulgent two-week vacation, Bibb, 37, went on a four-day juice cleanse to get ready for her shoot. "It was an angry four days," says Bibb. "Sam [Rockwell, her boyfriend] was like, 'Thank God I'm not with you right now. You are not nice on the juice cleanse.'" Luckily, prepping her skin was an easier chore, as she stopped off at a Korean spa for a body scrub pre-shoot. "Everybody's naked there, and I don't mind," she said. "But I'm like a cat with a feather anytime I see a boob job. I can't look away."

New Article: Legendary TV Icon Dick Clark Passes Away

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Broadcast icon Dick Clark, the creator and longtime host of "American Bandstand," has died, publicist Paul Shefrin said. He was 82.

Clark suffered a heart attack while at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica for an outpatient procedure, his publicist said. "Attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful."

Clark suffered what was then described as "a mild stroke" in December 2004, just months after announcing he had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

That stroke forced Clark to cut back on his on-camera work, including giving up the hosting duties for the "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" specials. He returned as a co-host with Ryan Seacrest on December 31, 2005.

Clark anguished each year over whether to continue appearing on the annual show because of limitations on his speech from the stroke, U.S. Rep. David Drier, a longtime friend, told CNN Wednesday.

"But then he would get deluged by people who were stroke victims and other people who had infirmities and they were such admirers of his fighting spirit," said Drier, R-California.

Clark appeared on the last show for New Year's Eve 2011.

"He loved it, but at the same time he knew that his continued diligence was providing inspiration to a lot of people who were going through difficulties, facing infirmities themselves," Drier said.

Seacrest gave a statement to CNN Wednesday expressing deep sadness for "the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark."

"He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life," Seacrest said. "I idolized him from the start, and I was graced early on in my career with his generous advice and counsel. When I joined his show in 2006, it was a dream come true to work with him every New Year's Eve for the last 6 years."

Seacrest called Clark "smart, charming, funny and always a true gentleman."

"I learned a great deal from him, and I'll always be indebted to him for his faith and support of me," he said. "He was a remarkable host and businessman and left a rich legacy to television audiences around the world. We will all miss him."

His "American Bandstand" work, which he began as a local TV show in Philadelphia in 1956, earned him the nickname "America's oldest living teenager." The show was picked up by ABC and broadcast nationally a year later.

"Only God is responsible for making more stars than Dick Clark," said singer Tony Orlando, who was 16 when he first appeared on Clark's show in 1961.

"You had to go through the world and universe of Dick Clark in order to part of the record business," Orlando said.

Born Richard Wagstaff Clark in Mount Vernon, New York, on November 30, 1929, he began his broadcast career working at a radio station managed by his father.

Clark, who was married three times, is survived by his wife, Kari, two sons and a daughter.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted Clark in its nonperformer category in 1993.

Clark also hosted numerous other television favorites including "$25,000 Pyramid" and "TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes."

"This guy was the best," said singer Freddy Cannon, who appeared on "American Bandstand" 110 times. "He helped me from the very bottom of my career all through the '80s and the '90s, and he's going to be missed a lot."

New Tech: Google Drive To Release Next Week With 5 GB Storage

Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Preliminary reports indicate that Google Drive will become available next week with up to 5GB free storage space for all. Earlier reports noted that the long-awaited cloud storage service would make its official debut sometime this week, but that no longer appears to be the case. Instead, Google Drive will reportedly launch next week, bestowing all interested users with free storage to play with right out of the gate. While Dropbox only offers users 2GB, Google is certainly banking on that extra storage space to entice users to shift their allegiances. With Apple, Amazon and Microsoft having already entered into the cloud, only time will tell if Google’s attempt will pan out more like their successful launches, or if it will see slow adoption or limited success like Google+. New Kicks: Nike Lebron 9

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

LeBron James’ ninth signature shoe is a distinct combination of durability, support and lockdown. Creating a shoe for a one-of-a-kind athlete like LeBron James seems tough, considering his blend of speed, power and agility, but the LeBron 9 encompasses attributes that benefit the previously mentioned characteristics. It is easily one of the most locked down shoes I have ever worn. Breathability could have been better with added perforations or some way for air to seep through, but overall this shoe is perfect for the player that relies on athleticism and covets a long-lasting, supportive shoe.

The Nike LeBron 9 is now available at select retailers in various colorways for $170.

New Article: Touchscreens Directories Are Coming To NYC Phone Booths

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

New York City’s dilapidated phone booths are getting a high-tech makeover. Hundreds of phone booths will soon be outfitted with iPad-like touchscreen devices for directions and hyper-local news.

New Yorkers will see 32-inch smart screens in neighborhood phone booths starting next month, as part of a Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications-sanctioned pilot program.

If this public project is well-liked, more of the city’s 12,800 free-standing phones will morph into Internet-enabled data stations. Future kiosks may become Wi-Fi hotspots with email and Skype capabilities.

While any final determinations are still some time off, we’ll soon begin seeking public input about what New Yorkers would like to see the payphone of the future entail, and we view the City 24×7 pilot program as an innovative, engaging way to help inform those efforts,” said Nicholas Sbordone, DoITT director of external affairs.

For now, the directories will show information about local eateries, area shopping, traffic alerts, directions and safety alerts. And, no quarters are needed. These touchscreen devices will be free to use, throughout the five boroughs.

Locals may also use the smart screens to report a problem to “311.” People will be able to read the screens in more than 10 languages.

NYC has signed on City24x7 a mobile communications company that works with tech-savvy cities around the world. City 24×7 says the project will bring an “up-to-the-minute public communication system” to NYC.

The outdoor devices will be waterproof and dust-proof to allow for regular hose downs.

City 24x7 will be responsible of the maintenance and repair of the screens. The pilot program will cost the city nothing, according to Sbordone. In the future, the program will display ads, covering the installation and upkeep of the touchscreen directories. The city will also post reminder ads about tax refunds, bike sharing services and park events. (SOURCE)

New Article: Facebook To Buy Instagram

Monday, April 9, 2012

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has let it slip that the social media juggernaut has plans to purchase Instagram for a whopping $1 billion USD. Having recently expanded to the Android market, Zuckerberg confirmed the news on his personal blog, adding that the deal won’t affect Instagram’s integration with competing social networks.

We think The fact that Instagram is connected to other services beyond Facebook is an important part of the experience. We plan on keeping features like the ability to post to other social networks, the ability to not share your Instagrams on Facebook if you want, and the ability to have followers and follow people separately from your friends on Facebook.

This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time they’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users. For those of you concerned about the inevitable pairing of Facebook and Instagram, for the time being the two companies with act completely independently. Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom confirmed via his site’s blog that the service, “is not going away,” adding, “the Instagram app will still be the same one you know and love.”

New Article: Google Glasses Unveiled

Thursday, April 5, 2012

Google is giving the world a glimpse of what life would look like through a pair of it's futuristic augmented reality glasses.

A video released by the company Wednesday shows how wearers of the high-tech specs can free their hands from technology — keeping everything at eye level.
Like a smartphone attached to your head, everything — a phone call, a Foursquare check-in, GPS navigation, Twitter — is just a tap away.

The glasses are Google’s first foray into wearable computing, and part of a secretive initiative called Project Glass, from a company laboratory known as Google X.

A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment,” Google wrote on its website. “We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input.”

In the video, weather notifications, text messages and more are seen popping up inside the lenses of the glasses, directly in front of the wearer’s eyes. The ambush of technology is the price he’s paying for not having to reach into his pocket for a camera or cell phone.

Online, reaction to the glasses was overwhelmingly positive, with many users on Google Plus and Twitter asking where to sign up for a pair.

I’d love to see necessary info while I’m driving,” wrote one user. “Speed, a map, is the guy behind me a cop?

Others questioned whether the glasses could be made with prescription lenses, or commented on the look of the prototype.

They look surprisingly normal! Crazy to think these will be the next iPhone eventually,” wrote another user.

Google glasses are not yet for sale.
